Response To Intervention
Miss Gray - Title Teacher I am so excited to be a part of G.T. Norman Elementary this year! As a title teacher, my goal is to provide support to students who are struggling in Language Arts and help them reach their full learning potential.
At the beginning of the school year, every child is assessed on their literacy skills. The children that have scored below where expected will receive interventions to help them succeed. Children will assessed every two weeks to monitor their progress. Once the child has mastered the needed skills he/she will be released from the program. Mrs. Clark - Title TeacherREADING TIPS:
~ Talk to your child often - this will help build listening and talking skills. ~ Have your child use his/her imagination to make up and tell you stories. Ask questions that will encourage him/her to expand the stories. ~ Listen to your child's questions and give answers patiently. ~ READ books every day and talk about them - what is his/her favorite part, characters, events. ~ Limit time watching TV, iPads, and video games and encourage more reading and writing. ~ Volunteer in your child's classroom or Title 1 program. You would be very welcome! As your child's Title 1 teacher, I will be working in small groups or one-on-one. We will be working on the skills that your child would need to be successful as a reader. Please feel free to contact me at any time. [email protected] or 231-832-5548 |

About the Title Program
|
Reading is the building block for success in all areas of life. We co-teach regular education 5th grade part of the day, and the other part of the day, we work with small groups or individual students to be better readers. We enjoy seeing the rewards of teaching reading strategies and skills to students. We push-in to help the classroom teachers as well as pull-out small groups for intensive instruction.

Title 1 is a Federal aid program for public schools. Districts that receive Title 1 funding can provide extra services for children who are having difficulty with core subject areas.
Norman Elementary’s Title 1 program is designed to help each child with the skills that he/she is having difficulty with. At the beginning of the school year every child is assessed on literacy skills by using a variety of screeners and assessments, including NWEA -MAP, DIBELS, Running Records and more. The children that have scored below Benchmark (skills that are expected) will receive interventions to help the child gain the necessary skills. Children will be assessed routinely to monitor their progress. Once the child has mastered the needed skills he/she will be released from the program. |
